Product information "14 litho shipmail postcards 1897-1913 | German Reich | picture postcards"
A fascinating, small collection of lithographic picture postcards from the Hamburg-America Line (1897–1913), housed in a green Lindner postcard album with a matching slipcase. Though small, this collection—rare in its composition—comprises 14 highly decorative lithographic postcards themed around the Hamburg-America Line’s maritime mail service. Dating from 1897 to 1913, they feature exquisite illustrations of the respective vessels. Every card was sent through the postal system and bears the corresponding maritime postmarks, indicating the specific shipping line; some also feature transit postmarks from France or Great Britain. The collection includes two cards addressed to Hungary—a notable destination. Of particular interest are the cards dating from before the turn of the century, as well as one bearing a scarce postmark from the "Hamburg–Mexico" line. Also included is a card featuring a partial embossed design of the steamship *Fürst Bismarck*. Four of the cards come with detailed expert certificates from Mr. Steuer (BPP), further underscoring their rarity. The cards are in very good condition, consistent with items that have seen actual postal use; some show typical signs of transit (one card has a damaged stamp, and one has a small tear sustained during transport). This is an excellent opportunity to acquire an exceptional collection. We have photographed both the fronts and backs of every item in the collection—all the pieces shown are included in this offer.
