A remarkable collection of 32 lithographic postcards from the German Post in Turkey, dating from 1898–1903. The collection begins with 12 cards featuring highly compelling imagery related to the German Kaiser’s travels to various cities in the Orient—one of which includes an expert certificate from Steuer (BPP). This is followed by 19 "Salut de" (greetings from) postcards depicting various cities with striking views (one of these also includes a certificate from Steuer, BPP), as well as a card featuring a superb scene from Smyrna (the Caravan Bridge), which also comes with a certificate from Steuer (BPP). All the cards were sent through the mail and, with the exception of one, bear the corresponding arrival postmarks. The cards are in excellent condition, consistent with their having been through the postal system; to provide a comprehensive overview, we have included images of both the front and back of every card. These 32 rare postcards are housed in a green Lindner ring binder with a matching slipcase, with each card neatly placed in an individual protective sleeve. This is an truly exceptional collection in excellent condition, sourced from a non-smoking household. The collection will be delivered exactly as shown, with all cards and certificates included.
